Beautiful things

Beautiful Things – Gungor Lyric Video

The month of April has been unusual in so many ways, filled with bad things that need no mentioning. However, I thank the Lord that He makes beautiful things out of the dust. God is doing great things:

  • Churches moving their meetings online, hence accessibility for people who wouldn’t have been able to attend in person
  • People coming to Christ because they have time to seek Him
  • I hear stories of families who reconciled as a result of spending more time together

Beautiful dust - Living Lutheran

  • The opportunity to reconnect with long lost friends
  • The opportunity to master some technological skills
  • Reviving old hobbies and enjoying new ones
  • Believers spending more time reflecting on their walk with God, hence mending the relationship
  • Etc.

One of the things that I am personally thankful for, is having enough time to think. I have heard and said “I will think about it” so many times, but I had not really experienced it fully until the lockdown period. I have always enjoyed reflecting but it isn’t that much enjoyable when you feel like you are rushing to something else. Fortunately, I am not bothered by staying in the same room for a whole day, so that makes it easy for me to spend hours, laying/sitting down, doing nothing else but thinking (and praying, if something comes up in the thoughts).

I enjoy realizing how God has been fulfilling His promises from Philippians 2:13, Proverbs 16:3, Philippians 1:6 and others, in my life, my family’s, my friends’, the Church, and the nations. I contend that no matter what bad experiences we have had in life, when we really think about it, there is a lot to be thankful for, there is a lot of beautiful things. This gives hope that even for things that currently seem to be ugly, filthy, dusty, in the future, we can look back and see how the Lord beautiful turns them for our good, and for His glory.
