Growing up in India, Mohit’s parents never talked about religion but emphasized doing good deeds and avoiding immoral acts. Mohit saw Jesus as just a “good guy” similar to Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Theresa.
Coming to the US in 2017 for his masters in Computer Science and Engineering, Mohit had two goals: to receive a quality education and to be exposed to different cultures. So when he was handed a flyer about IFI’s upcoming multicultural events, he jumped at the opportunity. Mohit attended nearly all of IFI’s local events, from Indian festivals to Lunar New Year, and even Bible discussion.
Over time, Mohit gained close friendships with IFI staff members and important insights from his Bible discussion, which started to influence his life. Mohit asked his friend, Rich, from IFI, “How can I know when God speaks to me?” Rich replied, “It will be like an intersecting thought, consistent with what we are reading in the Bible, and will give you peace if you follow it.” Following their conversation, Mohit understood that God wanted to speak with him.
“It is not easy because it demands sacrifice, patience, pain, faith and a sincere heart. But through constant listening to God, I realized these challenges are the means by which God leads me into eternal peace and joy at its best.”
Mohit became a follower of Jesus earlier this year and wants to go back to India to serve as a professor. In speaking about following God he says, “It is not easy because it demands sacrifice, patience, pain, faith and a sincere heart. But through constant listening to God, I realized these challenges are the means by which God leads me into eternal peace and joy at its best.”
