In 2024, Trazzy, originally from Kenya, moved from her university in Turkey to attend Purdue. As she tried settling in, she was quickly faced with challenges.

“As an international student, it takes time to find your place,” Trazzy explained. “Housing was an issue and I also struggled with the individualism.”

Researching options, Trazzy remembered she’d been sent an email by the school about host families. She looked through her inbox and was thankfully able to find an application. Her prayers were answered some days later via Beth, IFI West Lafayette leader.

“Beth said she’d help me,” Trazzy said. “She’s now family and a true friend, with me through it all. I like to say she’s my miracle!”

With Beth’s help, Trazzy was able to find an apartment. In addition, an IFI Household Item Giveaway supplied Trazzy with bedding, towels, and kitchen essentials that made her feel at home.

Despite the rough start to her journey in the States, Trazzy’s sense of belonging was restored through the genuine friendships she made, empowering her to help her IFI location. She’d known Jesus her whole life, so she understood her calling to help others.

“IFI has shown me the importance of being a blessing to others,” Trazzy observed. “I pray that I’m able to help someone else, maybe a new student, just like I was helped.”

Trazzy has been able to share her faith in casual conversation with international students at Purdue and has already seen the fruit of some of her interactions, such as a student from South Asia deciding to get baptized.

“It humbles me to see students getting to know Christ,” Trazzy said. “It’s amazing to share the joy of the Lord.”
