When Georgia struggled to complete her PhD, she found rest and care in the home of IFI volunteers.
Georgia met IFI volunteers, Mark and Sally, in Brazil several years ago and was encouraged by Mark to pursue further studies in the U.S.
She was accepted as a PhD candidate in Ohio. The day she arrived, Mark and Sally met her at the airport. They gave her a warm welcome and invited her to a special IFI Bible discussion group for Brazilians. Thrilled to reconnect with these friends, Georgia gladly accepted.
While Georgia had believed in God before, she says,”I didn’t think of Him often. I only spoke to God when I had bad moments or needed help.”
After some time, Georgia began questioning why she was pursuing a PhD. She wasn’t enjoying her studies and became sad. During this difficult time, Sally’s care for Georgia helped her place her trust in Jesus, who could truly guide her.
“Being at Mark and Sally’s home made me know I was not alone,” Georgia recalled. “I knew God was with me. God comforted me.”
