What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

In February, I personally encountered a strong conviction of guilt for my own sins that I have committed in the past. One night after our Valentine’s Day celebration, I found myself couldn’t fall asleep, because my mind was occupied with endless flashbacks of my previous dating relationship. The more I retrospect, the stronger I feel captivated by the feeling of regret, shame, and guilt… How I wish I couldn’t have made those ungodly choices.

I shared my struggles with a close friend of my mine. She prayed with me together, asking God to do the healing work in me. Even though I had no idea of how God will restore the brokenness in me, I prayed to Him, trusting that He can and He will do the work.

I have to say that God is such a good father to me that He answered my prayer on the next following day! The Bible study group that I volunteered at was reading Mathew 6. I was enlightened by the verse “If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?” Caught by the word “clothe”, my heart was then trembled, by a flood of relief and thankfulness. The Holy Spirit led me to visualize that God is clothing me with a brand new piece of dress, from bottom to the top, from inside and out!

Because of the sacrifice that God’s only son, Jesus, has made, I am entitled to wear this clothe of righteousness, and because so, God will not condemn me any more for my sins. His love covers a multitude of sins.

God also revealed this verse to me as I meditate on the power of Jesus’s death: “For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19) Jesus’s death on the cross is a one-time payment for all man and it shall be enough. There is no sin that is greater than the love that God could ever use to cover, through Jesus!

I am forever thankful that I am made Holy and righteous in God’s eyes, and I pray for God to do the same work in anyone who desires to be made clean!
